SUMMARY:Monthly Studio Talk
DESCRIPTION:DETAILS\n\n\n\nTOPIC:\n\n\n\nTBD \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBack in the early 90’s when our original Yoga Workshop studio was a few years old\, we started offering Studio Talks on Sunday evenings after the packed Mysore class. We never knew for sure whether there would be a talk\, though usually as we rolled up our mats and wiped sweat from the floor you’d hear Richard’s voice quietly saying\, “In fifteen minutes\, there will be a talk…if anyone is here.” They grew from 10-20 in attendance to close to 100 at times as word spread that the talks were interesting\, often funny and always free. And best of all\, you didn’t have to practice yoga to join in. \n\n\n\nWhen the pandemic hit in 2020 we started offering Studio Talks live online and these too have grown into a monthly online gathering of sangha members from around the world. We cover foundational yoga teachings and paradoxes in context of modern life and for those who join live\, we always stick around for questions.

We cover foundational yoga teachings and paradoxes in context of modern life and for those who join live\, we always stick around for questions.

SUMMARY:The Body Matrix
DESCRIPTION:DETAILS\n\n\n\nWHAT:\n\n\n\nWorkshop \n\n\n\nPRICE:\n\n\n\n\nFull course : 910 euros \n\n\n\nSubsidized price upon request for local community : 780 euros (send us your request at info@agora-lisboa.com)\n\n\n\n\nSchedule\n\n\n\n\n8:30am -12:30pm : Morning sessions : Pranayama & Guided Asana practice \n\n\n\n2:00pm – 4:30pm : Afternoon sessions : Meditation\, Chanting & Philosophy of the Yoga Sutra\n\n\n\nThere will be discussion and questions & answer periods during the week.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin us for this deep dive into the art of yoga—developing techniques and offering insights into how yoga becomes a lifelong and sustainable support for living a vibrant life.   \n\n\n\nLike the Jeweled Net of Indra\, our immediate experience is an interconnected field of immediate sensations\, thoughts and feelings. When examined closely each point or pattern in that field shines like a jewel\, vibrantly reflecting the other jewels’ diverse angles and perspectives within the interconnected web of body\, heart\, mind—a matrix of gates into the present moment.  \n\n\n\nYoga poses\, breaths\, techniques\, practices and philosophies appear as these jewels when the contexts in which they rest are revealed. The flowing internal form of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga\, combined with meditation\, prāṇāyāma\, chanting and philosophy provide an ideal practice to reflect and refine an understanding of this intricate art of yoga; one that  interlinks our practice with everyday life \n\n\n\nIn the mornings we will practice āsana and prāṇāyāma in an internal\, contemplative and adaptive manner as a means of discovering how this dialectical approach produces an embodied sense of freedom which helps to cultivate compassion. Detailed attention will be placed on the form and quality of poses as they are strung together upon the thread of the breath. Seeing this will allow us to adapt postures and movements to our circumstances so we can prevent injury\, heal imbalance and arrive at an optimal state for prāṇāyāma and meditation practice. Afternoons will include chanting\, meditation and talks exploring themes from the Bhagavad Gita as they relate to other texts of yogic and Buddhist traditions.  \n\n\n\nThrough practices and discussions throughout the week\, we will move in and out of the paradoxical heart of the Vinyasa system\, examining our own preconceptions and habits to awaken our natural capacities to wake up from the inside out\, This will facilitate learning to solve problems and avoid obstacles which commonly arise so that our practice may become a transformative and sustainable support for life within the rich landscape of our modern world.   \n\n\n\nAppropriate for both beginner and advanced practitioners.

SUMMARY:Monthly Studio Talk
DESCRIPTION:DETAILS\n\n\n\nTOPIC:\n\n\n\nCANCELLED- Join us in June! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhen you feel strong and flexible in body and mind\, it’s a sign the yoga may be working. Should you push your way through\, or pause and breathe deeply\, letting prāṇa and apāna join together to do their thing deep at the root of your navel? Kicking up dust or letting it settle? This world could use a little lest dust and a lot more calm. \n\n\n\nIronically our May Studio Talk was titled Abhāsya Vairāgya and the Net of Time! I found myself kicking up all kinds of dust to make it work before teaching the next day in Santa Fe\, as both of us settling back into the US after months in Asia. \n\n\n\nWe set schedules\, goals\, deadlines and fantasies for ourselves of what should be. Important\, but less so than recognizing when these things are causing undue stress and that we are the ones who’ve set the parameters that are causing ourselves stress. Maybe the yoga’s working because suddenly we’re feeling a bit of flexibility of mind. \n\n\n\nOur newsletter content is ready\, and our talk semi organized\, but we’re putting it on pause. We ask for your patience as we settle and take a few days off. So\, no Studio Talk this month\, but we’ll see you on June 3rd instead. \n\n\n\nMake effort. Take time too. Let dust settle as you take care of yourself and others. \n\n\n\nStay tuned for new online and in person teaching we’ve got coming up this summer and in the fall. You can watch our Youtube channel in the meantime and we’ll be at the Asheville Yoga Festival in July and much more!

SUMMARY:DEEP DIVE: INTO THE ROOTS OF FREEDOM
DESCRIPTION:DETAILS\n\n\n\nWHAT:\n\n\n\n10-day Retreat \n\n\n\nPRICE:\n\n\n\n\nRates vary. Visit Samahita Retreat website for more information.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhether you are brand new to yoga or have been interested in it for years\, you’re likely to have experienced inexplicable moments of joy during your practice. As if you entered into a moment of spacious timelessness\, and equanimity. It’s like you’ve come home to a place that is extraordinarily familiar\, yet you aren’t quite sure where you are. That’s because states of freedom spontaneously arise through yoga. Freedom from habitual patterns of being and reacting to circumstances. Yoga helps us experience the joining together of complimentary patterns of feeling\, thought\, breath and sensation in which insight into the open nature of being spontaneously arises. Āsana opens doorways of perception\, prāṇāyāma establishes pathways for intelligence\, while meditation\, chanting and philosophical study facilitate patience\, clarity and discernment. Yoga begins and evolves within these practices in the moment at hand. \n\n\n\nIn this retreat we will work with all these forms of practice\, dropping deeply into the awakened embodied state of freedom which is at yoga’s core. In the mornings we will practice prāṇāyāma and āsana (some guided\, and some Mysore style all sculpted to meet individual needs) and. Afternoons will include meditation\, chanting and philosophy. Using the Śiva Saṃhitā for context and as a springboard for study we will experience how communicating and working together provides a feeling of ballast and the opportunity for insight into the value and truth of interconnectedness. Together we will explore how the ancient practices of yoga can be brought into the world with meaning\, to foster a sense compassion and of agency in our daily lives. This retreat is appropriate for practitioners of all levels and all traditions of practice.

SUMMARY:Monthly Studio Talk
DESCRIPTION:DETAILS\n\n\n\nTOPIC:\n\n\n\nHow to Succeed in Yoga Without Really Trying \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBack in the early 90’s when our original Yoga Workshop studio was a few years old\, we started offering Studio Talks on Sunday evenings after the packed Mysore class.
