SUMMARY:Monthly Studio Talk
DESCRIPTION:DETAILS\n\n\n\nTOPIC:\n\n\n\nYogic Teachings on Death & Dying \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBack in the early 90’s when our original Yoga Workshop studio was a few years old\, we started offering Studio Talks on Sunday evenings after the packed Mysore class. We never knew for sure whether there would be a talk\, though usually as we rolled up our mats and wiped sweat from the floor you’d hear Richard’s voice quietly saying\, “In fifteen minutes\, there will be a talk…if anyone is here.” They grew from 10-20 in attendance to close to 100 at times as word spread that the talks were interesting\, often funny and always free. And best of all\, you didn’t have to practice yoga to join in. \n\n\n\nWhen the pandemic hit in 2020 we started offering Studio Talks live online and these too have grown into a monthly online gathering of sangha members from around the world. We cover foundational yoga teachings and paradoxes in context of modern life and for those who join live\, we always stick around for questions.

Yet taking time to cultivate finishing postures\, pranayama forms as well as meditation practice can enliven and bring a whole new depth to our daily asana practice. In this silent retreat we will focus on the balancing combination of asana\, meditation and breathing practices. Each day we will sit\, practice Mysore style\, chant\, explore postures in depth in guided sessions and work with the philosophical underpinnings of the elements of compassion and an understanding of the nature of the mind and the body. \n\n\n\nMost days will be spent in meditative silence to allow the practices to be assimilated and take root. What better place to experiment with silence than in the supportive environment of the ocean and nature that is part of the Samahita experience. The retreat is appropriate for beginning and seasoned meditation practitioners alike. To understand more about this retreat please read this testimonial. \n\n\n\nThis retreat is a remarkable opportunity to slow down\, reflect and go deeply into practice. Immersed in the richness of nature and the tropics\, when we introduce silence of speech\, something magical happens. Spaces\, insights\, and a sense of groundedness emerge freely. These shifts in experience and perspective are always there in the background\, but when we introduce the freedom of silence\, they shine forth. \n\n\n\nDay two we ease into silence and on the last full day we ease back out. Students are encouraged to keep silent\, stay off screens\, and take advantage of the rare opportunity for reflection and renewal in the vastness of nature. Mary and Richard will be available if difficulties\, doubts or questions within the practice arise.

SUMMARY:Monthly Studio Talk
DESCRIPTION:DETAILS\n\n\n\nTOPIC:\n\n\n\nSamsara: An Elegant Dance with Time \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBack in the early 90’s when our original Yoga Workshop studio was a few years old\, we started offering Studio Talks on Sunday evenings after the packed Mysore class. \n\n\n\n\nJOIN NOW

SUMMARY:Month-Long Teachers Intensive
DESCRIPTION:DETAILS\n\n\n\nWHERE:\n\n\n\nDarmstadt-Eberstadt\, Germany \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis course is full. \n\n\n\nTeacher Intensive dates 2025 TBD Applications for next year’s course will be available in January\, 2025. \n\n\n\nLearn More About Practicing With Us >>> \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe purpose of the course is to facilitate an exploration of the internal principles and forms of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga at a level that will deepen one’s practice and make teaching a natural outcome of practice. Always returning to our own personal experience\, we will explore the practices and philosophies of yoga\, their contexts\, purposes\, patterns\, and limitations. Examining the tradition from multiple viewpoints should give depth and sophistication to the interconnected processes of yoga. The course will flow through the many and often contradictory philosophies of yoga into therapeutics\, and asana practice\, on to comparing and contrasting aspects of Buddhism to yoga\, an introduction to Sanskrit and work with pranayama\, back into meditation\, on into the biomechanics of posture and movement\, and into the hands-on world of relating to others.

SUMMARY:SECRETS OF ASHTANGA YOGA
DESCRIPTION:DETAILS\n\n\n\nPRICE: \n\n\n\n\nGeneral: $610\n\n\n\nMembers: $555\n\n\n\nEarly-bird (Through 6/1): $555\n\n\n\n\nDaily Schedule:\n\n\n\nMorning: 9:00am-12:00pm \n\n\n\nLunch Break: 12:00pm-1:30pm \n\n\n\nAfternoon: 1:30pm-3:30pm \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAshtanga Vinyasa Yoga means so much more than whether or not you can put your leg behind your head or catch your heals in backbending\, though those can be fun and tangible landmarks within our asana practice. But there’s always so much more to a balanced practice! The healthiest approach to yoga is to incorporate and integrate into our practice all eight limbs of the traditional ashtanga system as described in the Yoga Sutra. It is through this integrated approach that meditation\, freedom\, and lasting happiness spontaneously arise. \n\n\n\nMornings will be asana classes in which we explore details of the traditional series\, finding power in the transitions and new alignment depth in old poses. We will bring the brilliant core of the central axis out through the forms of the postures\, turning them into mudras of feeling and expression so that our practice is ever deepening\, steady and safe\, a source for inspiration. \n\n\n\nIn the afternoons we will practice chanting\, meditation and pranayama as well as dive into the philosophy of the Yoga Sutra as it reveals the secrets of complete awakening to the world of interdependence between people\, cultures and deep contemplative experience.
